Greetings Listers
A list member has requested clarification on a number of issues
with regards this list and the role of the Administrator.
One involved forwarding messages and info I recieve off list.
I can only forward messages if the address is incorrect such
as Cahnt-L or Chant-L-Request. One is a basic spelling mistake
and the intention to send to the list is clear, the other is
only used to join or leave the list but is often used by
mistake by those new to a list. I can forward messages if
directly requested to by the person posting the message.
I can forward messages sent to this list that have the Chant-L
address that go astray due to computer or address problems
or if I am specificly requested to forward a message. But
prefer you post your own messages to the list if you wish
to address the list.
Posting your messages directly avoids doubling up, info
missing from messages, misunderstandings and other issues.
The topic of messages to this list should always remain
relevant to Chant family research. Peoples family lines,
places lived, occupations etc
The Mail address to send messages to this list is:
Chant-L(a)rootsweb.com
From now on I will try my best not to break the law by
forwarding Emails sent to me directly rather than the
list (as this is private correspondence) and forwarding
private Emails without permission breeches new Australian
Copyright Laws. I understand similar laws already exist
in the UK which I was unaware of.
Please note I prefer if members send their requests and
Info to the list directly rather than to me to forward
to the list. This is just double handling and I am not
sure what purpose this serves.
regards
Michael Cheeseman
