Hi Beryl
Arthur worked for the Railways in 1918 in electrol roll entry. It would pay
to
check if his railway employee record is available. In WA WAGR records for
1879-1905 have been indexed by a private researcher. Unsure if the railway
Arthur worked for was GOV or Private.
Not sure of the equivelent in Queensland. But his file if government should
be
accessable after thirty years if he is dead or apply under the Freedom of
Information act for government records. Personnel files are a bit sticky
though
and access via FOI may not apply. Direct descendants would have to try for
the
records I would expect. Are there indexes of Death or Cemetary Burial in
QLD.
Would pay to check all these up to 1980/90's. Also consider he may have gone
interstate for work. Many missing people from the eastern states turned up
in
Kalgoorlie from 1894-1910 due to the Gold Rush here. Mining drawing people
to
WA still from the eastern States. Have you tried NSW Deaths up to 1990?
Victoria 1990, Tasmania 1990, NZ 1990, SA 1990, WA 1990. Are Arthur or
George
listed on the Federal Electrol rolls? Have you tried old Phone Books
or Post Office Directories held at your State archives? Some areas to look
into.
Best of Luck
regards
