Hello Listers,
Getting a sense of deja vu here as I am sure we have discussed this
James Chant before. Please stop me if this is true ! Anyhow on the 1891
census at Wilton Terrace, Knightsbridge (not far from Chelsea) James is
a domestic servant, butler aged 67 born Martock. However he is listed as
single ! One wonders if he and Rebecca were estranged ?

Hello Listers,
On the 1881 census there is a James Chant, born Martock, Somerset,
butler in Westminster, aged 57 and married. One wonders if this was the
husband of Rebecca Bateman ? The age is right and you will recall that
he was listed as a "domestic servant" on the 1871 census.
Doers anyone have connections with the Martock family ?
Regards,
Sean
