Lorraine,
If Harry is Peter's father then I've a large tree of our family that I'm happy
to share with you both. It would be easiest to send GEDCOM files on a disk in the post -
it's just got too big to print out easily.
I've some photocopy service papers for the Harry CHANT you mention also. Below are
some further details for the tree you've given:
- Henry CHANT (1844) was actually b.18/10/1835 and bap.25/12/1838 in Homington (from the
Homington PR's).
- Elizabeth GODWIN was 'provately baptised'20/4/1838, 'brought into the
church' 21/06/1840 but born April 1838 (Homingto PR's).
- Edna GODWIN married Thomas HORN.
- George CHANT m.Charlotte Rebecca TRIMMER.
- Thomas CHANT m.Sarah Ellen JOHNSON, I've 2 other children Ivy 1891 and Sydney1896
both living in Camberwell Surrey in 1901.
- James b.12/7/1868 m.Kate CHURCHER b.Wickham Hants 1871. Service papers held.
- Eliza m.John EDMUNDS
- Harry b.13/2/1872 m.Louisa Matilda Jemima TESTER.
- Jane b.17/5/1874.
- Martha (known as Patricia?) b.24/12/1875 m. George Henry (known as Edward Melvin?) PIPE.
Had 2 children.
- Annie Alice b.27/12/1877 bap.3/2/1878 m.#1 Alfred George JERRED b. Wells Somerset 1874
and had 3 children. m.#2 Montague Charles HARRIS.
- there was also another child , Mary or May b.1881 at Lynch nr. Midhurst Sussex.

Thomas's grandfather, Thomas CHANT, born Homington 1810 is my wife's 1st
cousin 5 times removed. This line also connects with Andy CHANT who made
contact with me on this Mailing List some time ago. It was all the effort
and research by him and also by a John CHANT (also on the CHANT ML) who is
interested in all CHANTS that I have quite a bit of info on this family.
Would be pleased to pass on what I have. Give me a few days as tomorrow we
have a Sandakan Memorial Dedication Service at Kings Park Perth Western
Australia. I am the President of the POW Association involved with the
construction of the memorial and still have a lot to do in the meanwhile.
Strangely there is a J R CHANT from NSW who died 2 June 1945 aged 34 years
during the second march from Sandakan to Ranau. Have never checked him out
but will do so soon.
Best wishes
Allan & Jean Cresswell
