Hi Listers,
Some of you may have done this but in case not it is worth looking at a
feature on FreeBMD which allows the use of wild cards. Go to:
_http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl_
(
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl)
Select 'All Types'
Ignore the surname box and in the 'First name(s)' box insert:
* Chant
* is a wild card and there is a space between it and Chant
Leave everything else unselected and click the 'Find' button.
You will get middle names that include CHANT like CHANTER and CHANTELLE but
you could find some connections of which you were unaware.
I'll start the ball rolling with:

Youngest child is Katherine MALE 1886-1944 who married William WARR son of
William WARR and Ann Eliza CHANT 1864 (my line).
Katherine's granddaughter married back into my line in 1945.
Ann Eliza's son Harry WARR was second husband to Eva CHANT in my line.
Eva CHANT's first husband was Sydney GEORGE in Janine's line.
Ann Eliza's great great granddaughter has parents from two lines stemming
from John CHANT and Jane FORD.
It is fun finding new cousins around the world. The lines part and then tend
to come together as people emigrated in groups and then dealt with those
with whom they were familiar. What is above is just one small area, where people
have stayed put.
So! Who has a line to give from that FreeBMD site? There are some people
there I should like to try and fit in. Who is Rosina Chant CHANT 1872 Yeovil? I
haven't got her although I have three other Rosinas listed. I am sure I should
be interested in Beryl Chant DALWOOD 1894 Yeovil as well. But she is one of
many!
The trick can be played with other surnames as well, of course!
Frederick Fane COMER 1902-1983 was son of Charles COMER and Annie FANE.
Annie was my great grandmother, Caroline's, sister. Their brother John Lucas FANE
married Lavinia CHANT 1858. Lavinia shared a grandfather with Caroline's
husband, my great grandfather, Walter CHANT.
Remember not to upset anyone in a village!
Cheers,
John
