Hello Robert and John and Listers,
Christopher Chant is not a name I have come across in any of my NSW
research, on BDM's etc etc. I wonder if he did live in NSW ?
Regards,
Sean

Hi Robert,
This was the son of John CHANT and Ann PALMER and would have been my
first
cousin three times removed.
I don't have a death date for him and very little about the lines of
his 12
children. His wife I have as Elizabeth nee BUTCHER which would fit with
your
other information.
It is interesting that his brother Christopher is in N.S.W. as I have
that
his was a Stoke family and that both his wife Edith nee SANSOM
(1824-1888) and
daughter, Dorcas (1852-1852) died there.
Is it possible to see if you could find Christopher's entry to
Australia,
please, and if he was accompanied by a wife. The implication would then
be that
he and Edith either returned to England or that she returned by herself,
before or after his death. (Or that he had done a runner much earlier!)
Thanks,
John
