Thanks Sean,
Don't think I know any of them.
I should have though Alice was rather young to be a mother-in-law, perhaps
that should be stepmother, but in that case I should have expected to see at
least a husband on the census showing as living at Shenfield. William and John
are isolated individuals, too.
Then there are what appear to be two families, one in Wanstead and the other,
Writtle.
Ambrose 48 Orsett
Eliza 43 Writtle
George 18 Chelmsford
Eliza 14 Chelmsford
Walter 11 Writtle
Clara 3 Writtle
Philip 32 Southwark
Elizabeth 35 Warwickshire
Charlotte 12 London
Possibly plus
Mary A 33 Shadwell
By 1881 Ambrose and family have gone but Philip and Elizabeth are in London,
where he is a stationer. Elizabeth is shown as born Stratford on Avon. There
are no children with them.
By 1901 they are all apparently gone.
I'd like to know more about Alice please.
Cheers,
John
