Hi Linda
While at a course today on my lunch break I had a chance to
drop into the State Library and check up entries in the
St Catherines Indexes.
Previously at Somerset house and now at the GRO. Actually the
mircofilm has St Catherines Index on it. So that is what I
will call it.
Anyway checked the Births registered between September 1875
and March 1877. Remembering that late births in December/November
often appear in the Jan-March quarter of the following
year.
And found Albert Thomas Chant birth was registered at Yeovil Somerset
in the January-March Quarter 1877 number (5c 454)
There has been many Chant entries in Yeovil for many centuries
and are believed to be connect maybe to the Stoke line very
early on but this should not be assumed as no-one has ever claimed
a connection for the Yeovil Chants going back over time. Linda may
be the first but a lot of research will need to be done to
establish if a link or not exists.
Other entries I checked with Linda's possible line were:
1867
April-June Quarter
Charles William Chant Wincanton 5c 547
Thomas Naish Chant Yeovil Somerset 5c 492
(Pam Chant from US Line ?)Just noted this one because of Naish.
1867
July to September Quarter
William Charles Chant Bedminster 5c 738
(Likely Sibling of Albert)
1867
Oct-Dec Quarter
Alfred Chant at Taunton Somerset 5c 369
1870
April-June
Emma Chant at Honiton 5b 23
Rosina Chant at Taunton 5c 422
1870
July-September
Eliza Jane Chant at Yeovil 5c 471
1870
Oct-Dec
Emily Chant at Yeovil 5c 463
Of course you can double check these but it looks like Yeovil
is of interest also possibly Bedminster as well as Taunton
for Linda's Chant line.
