Christine - and anyone else who can help
Having been through the list of Chants of Odcombe recently provided by Christine Ellis, I
was delighted to find reference to Thomas Chant and Louisa Redward who I believe to be my
Gt.Grandparents. I therefore was also very interested to note the details relating to
their children, the first listed, Emily, 2nd May 1870 is my Grandmother, I can also
recall an Uncle Ern who presumably fits with Walter Ernest 2nd March 1879. I do not
recognise any of the other names of the children mentioned. BUT my Mother only daughter
(child) of Emily, was named Louisa Julia Alma May , I was told this was because her
Mother (Emily) had 4 sisters and as my Mother was the first born to the sisters in the
family, they wanted the child named after them. Now when young I met Aunt Julia and Aunt
May but do not know the whereabout of the other two. I do believe there was an Aunt in
Birmingham or thereabouts but never knew her name. SO have I got the right family? I
think Ihave because !
again in my young days I can recall a brother and sister (probably a little older than my
mother) by the name of Redward who had a shoe shop in the town of Yeovil (Somerset) and
who on occasion visited. If anyone, out there, can help I would very much appreciate it
as I am at a dead end with my research and have been unable to solve my little mystery.
