On going through my "Un-matched Chant" binder I found a death
certificate issued in the State of Victoria., Australia. Here's the
details if anyone is interested.
Name....Robert CHANT
Occupation....Boatswain
Date died....30th November 1856 at 3.55am.on board the ship "Simla" which
sailed from the Port of Southampton on the 12th November 1856 & arrived at
Melbourne on the 6th day of January 1857. It was registered by the
Commandent of the "Simla"..(Can't read his name)
Age at death.....46
Cause of death & duration of illness & who attended & when last
seen:....Bronchitis..6 days..seen by Dr.Mills on 30th November 1856 the day
he died.
Burial date....7th December 1856 with the witness entered as Gorden Colman?
clerk...
(He was probably dropped overbard)
Where born....Dorset
If deceased was married....Married.
Issue of deceased.....No entry here.
I thought perhaps someone might be looking for this Robert born
c.1810 in Dorset.
