Sean: It does help. It is so nice to be able to attach a place the rels
on a map. I'll probably never get over to London to have a look, but
this is the next best thing. Thanks very much. Jacqueline

Hello Jacqueline,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
Fanny Chant and sons were living at 6 Blanchard Street, Dalston, parish
of St John in Hackney. I know the area well, having worked there for
many years during the 1980's and early 1990's. An interesting place now,
and I am sure equally as interesing now, in terms of migrants and
general urban vibrancy. A far cry from my rural NSW abode now !!!!!
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Sean

Thanks very much, Sean. I'm pretty sure that is the Fanny I was
looking
for. It's possible the younger Fanny was away at school or
visiting
relatives. Is there a street address given for this family? Regards,
Jacqueline

Hello Jacqueline,
I found a Fanny Chant aged 31, widow living at Dalston, Hackney. Her
birthplace is listed as Middlesex. With are the following children:
i) Charles aged 8
ii) Ernest aged 7

All 3 boys born Middlesex
Also living with them were:
Ann Carter aged 44 servant
Henry Richards aged 47 lodger
Elizabeth Richards aged 44, wife of above
Ann Mathias, aged 67, widow, lodger
Elizabeth Mathias aged 35, lodger, unmarried
Hope this helps. I could'nt find Fanny Chant aged 15. I will look for
