Greetings listers.
A warm welcome to June Pickering from Burpengary, Queensland.
She, like me has a double Chant connection.
From William Chaunt b circa 1563 who married 1584 Alice White
at
Stoke sub Hamden via 3x great grandson James Chant who
married Mary Mudford. Son George Chant married Ann Hallett of
West Chinnock. George's son John Chant married Jane Withyman.
John's daughter Emma Chant married Charles Brown on the
2nd April 1887 in Dalby, Queensland.
Also Arthur Chant who married Vera Condon. Arthur the son of
George Ishmael Chant, Son of Issac Chant and Mary Tizzard.
Issac of the line of Robert Chant born 1700 in West Chinnock
whose line at present has not gone further back.
It appears June may also be a distant cousin of mine or family connected via
my ancestor 1790 NSW Second Fleeter Simon Freebody.
It's not such a large world. Most with British ancestry will be
related 10-20 generations back on multiple family lines.
So all the best all my Chant list Cous's even if we dont know
which common ancestors we have yet. I heard on the grap vine
we are all descended from the bastard children/children of
Richard II of England. Most via the female branches. Proving
it though is the hard part.
regards
Michael Cheeseman
Descendant of Sherborne Chants
and related to West Chinnock/Stoke Chants from
four daughters of William Mudford (Descendant of William
Chaunt 1563)and Eliza Ford marrying four of my ancestral
Chant uncles/Bunter cousins in New South Wales in the 1880's.
