Chant branch family should recognise the below details.
Finchley is in Greater London north of London City in what was
I think the old county of Middlesex.
Lets have a warm welcome for Victoria Freeman who joined us
in mid May, a Chant descendant via her great grandmothers side.
Her Chant interests are:
1) Robert Chant and his wife Harriet ( g.g.g. grandparents).
They had a son,
2) Edwin John Chant b 1846, chr 1847 d 1920,
possibly buried in St. Marlebone Cemetery, East Finchley).
Edwin married Elizabeth Cole (the daughter of Henry Cole and
Caroline)
Edwin Chant and Elizabeth had eleven children:
3A) Caroline Rosa Chant (also known as Rose Caroline) who married
James Rayner Skeet (d. 1903 in New Zealand).
Caroline married 2nd a man whose surname was Ewing and they
lived in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire.
3B) Henry John Chant (b 1871)
3C) Lydia Chant (b 1872). Lydia was known as Lilly. She married
a man whose surname was Pardy.
3D) Robert George Chant (b. 1875) Robert is buried in Finchley
Cemetery.
3E) Ellen Elizabeth May Chant (b 1877, d 1924 in New Zealand).
She married Ernest Leveritt.
3F) Edwin and Elizabeth's next two children were twin
3G) girls, born prematurely in 1878. They were never named.
3H) Daisy Maud Chant (b. 1879). She married a Mr Davidson.
3I) Horace Pitman Chant (b. 1884), buried at Finchley
Cemetery.
3J) Harold Vivian Chant (b. 1885, d. 1951).
3K) Gladys Violet Chant (b. 1888, d. 1985).
Gladys is my g. grandmother.
She married Charles John Mantle at St. John's, Whetstone.
Gladys was Charles second wife, his first is unknown.
