Hello Christine,
Thanks for your reply. I think that Michael has had them checked with no
luck, although I intend to look at them myself next year. The 1841
unfortunately does not shed any further light on the matter. Worse luck.
I let you know if anything turns up.
Regards,
Sean

Hallo Sean
Not my Chant area I am afraid but couldnt help thinking (but with no
facts
of course<g>) - and you may of course already tried all or any of these
so
please forgive me if it looks as if I am stating the obvious.
Have you or anyone else of that line actually checked the original
parish
records?
Does the 1829 marriage not have any witness names which could perhaps
indicate a family connection?
Does the 1835 burial indicate a distinct occupation which may help in
eliminating one of the Samuels by comparing with the occupation listed
on
any childrens baptisms?
Has anyone checked the 1841 census with the hope that an elderly Chant
parent might still be alive and living with Samuel and Mary or perhaps
another family member?
As I said forgive me if you have already tried these.
Christine (nee Chant of the Odcombe variety)
