I was curious that there was a Thomas Nash Chant on the 1881 census when the
only one I had listed died in Stoke on the 8.2.1876.

It looks as if George son of Thomas and Matilda was actually George Nash
Chant and he married Elizabeth Winslade. There is nothing on Free BMD to
date. The 1871 census shows George living in Stoke with his parents. There
are no Winslades in Stoke in 1871.
It's 'bitty' but I hope of some use.
