Hello Listers.
Further to yesterdays messages regarding family of Charles Beck Chant. I
questioned whether or not so Robert Netherwood Chant went to the US.
However there is little question that he did. Social Security Index
evidence:
Name: Robert Chant
SSN: 095-09-3552
Last Residence: 18337 Milford, Pike, Pennsylvania, United
States of America
Born: 21 Dec 1888
Died: Apr 1984
State (Year) SSN issued: New York (Before 1951 )
I also found a WW1 draft card for him which states that he migrated
during 1906, which was when his parents and siblings also went, however
he is not listed on the ship's manifest, which threw me initially.
Robert's draft card also informs us that he was working as a glove
cutter for his uncle William Beck Chant at the time.
I found Robert on the 1930 US census:
Port Jervis, Orange Co, NY.
Robert N Chant, Head aged 41, married at 24, born England, migrated
1906, glover cutter
Charlotte M Chant, wife aged 42, married at 24, born England, migrated
1909
Phyliss Chant, daughter aged 14, single, born NY.
Regards,
Sean
