John,
I think this is Janette Pfeiffer's family, listed in the 1901 Census as
Hannah CHANT, Charwoman living on a market garden with John & Annie
Chant & family, & Emily Chant aged 22 b. West Chinnock, at West
Chinnock. Emily was a general domestic servant and was the daughter of
Benjamin & Amelia Chant but I have not fitted them into the picture yet.
Hannah's husband, William, was the son of George CHANT, b1796 West
Chinnock and Ann HALLETT b1803 West Chinnock who married 25 July 1824.
Linda Collie of Hadleigh, Suffolk also has an interest in this family.
The 1851 Census has:
West Chinnock, Somerset, England. "South Street
CHANT George 52 Flax Dresser West Chinnock, Som.
Ann 47 West Chinnock, Som.
Levi 23 Flax Dresser West Chinnock, Som.
William 19 Weaver West Chinnock, Som.
John 17 Flax Dresser West Chinnock, Som.
Mark 15 Labourer West Chinnock, Som.
David 10 West Chinnock, Som.
Isaiah 8 West Chinnock, Som.
Jane Anne 8 twins West Chinnock, Som."."."
George and Ann's family were George, Mark, Levi, Ann, William, John
(mentioned above in 1901 Census), Mark, David, Isaiah & Jane Anne.
Can anyone confirm that GEORGE's parents were JAMES and MARY and his
siblings were Edward or Edmund, Ann, Isaac and Mary?
Happy to provide additional info if required.
I'm connected in some way to the HALLETT family. An Ann HALLETT, born
1818 married THOMAS PATTEMORE b1820 Merriott. In the 1851 Census, they
are listed - Ann, husband Thomas PATESMORE, and three children living at
Quarry Farm, West Chinnock, with her father, John HALLETT. Ann worked
as a Spooler. In 1861 they were still at Quarry Farm, and Ann was
working as a Dressmaker. She died aged 56 on 31 Dec 1874, so she is not
the Ann HALLETT born 1803.
