I have -
James Chant 1783/1846 married Sara Tavener 1788/?. Their second child of
seven was Sampson Chant b 3/4/1809 Stoke Sub Hamdon m 25/12/1827 St Marys,
Stoke to Hannah Clothier b abt 1808 Stoke and died 1/1/1885 Stoke. Sampson
was buried 22/7/`885 and Hannah buried 2/1/1885.
Children: All born Stoke, Sub Hamdon
John - 1828/1855 and baptised 9/11/1828 St. Marys, (All Stoke)
Hannah - 21/4/1831 and died 1831 - christened 24/4/1831 St. Marys, Stoke
Sampson - 1834 died March 1901, buried 30/3/1901 St. Marys, Stoke. He
married Susan Murley b. 25/7/1834 Stoke, christened 31/8/1834 St. Marys,
Stoke and died Oct. 1909 Stoke, buried 30/10/1909 Stoke. They married
4/6/1855 St. Marys and had eleven children.
Joseph - 1837/1878, christened 15/10/1837 Stoke married1859 to Jane Chant b
19/4/1835 Stoke and died abt 1910 Possibly Battersea, London. THEY WERE
COUSINS. She was christened 14/6/1835 and was a widow in 1891 census. In
1861 census she was married with Joseph 10 months and staying with Helliars
at 59 West Street, Stoke. They had six children.
Susan - born 1840 - Was 10 in 1851 census
James - 30/5/1843 and christened 2/7/1843 Somerset died 1923 at Mt. Gambier,
South Australia. He married Mary Jane Hawke 9/1/1867 n Kapunda, south
Australia. She was born 1845 Cornwall, England and died 1895 Mt. Gambier,
South Australia. They had eleven children. (2) He married Elizabeth Anne
Allen 9/5/1901 Mt. Gambier. She was born in 1880 and died 1916 Mt. Gambier.
They had four children and I worked out that he married Elizabeth when he
was 58 and she was 21. He was 58, 62 and 65 when the children were born.
Lewis - born 1847 and christened 17/5/1847 St. Marys, Stoke. He maarried
14/7/1866 St. Marys, Stoke to Mary Thorne born about 1843 Stoke and she died
in U.S.A. I only have one child mentioned - Mary born 1866, Stoke.
Henry - Nov 1849 died 18/1/1875 - all Stoke
Jean - born about 1851 Stoke
