I can confirm that
Kate b. 1898, died Jun 1899.
Frederick George b. Sep 1902, died Dec 1902.
Cannot find record of birth for either Herbert Chant, although the Herbert b. Jun 1900
appears on the 1901 census.
I have found a burial record for a Herbert Chant in Mar 1960 in Poole, Dorset.

Hi John
I have just sent a great long list to you, which goes some way to
answering
these questions - particularly 2). My original email was a little
confusing.
1) Stephen Chant born 1868, m. Elizabeth Simmonds b. Abt 1862, in
1892 (my
g-g grandparents)
Stephen's parents were John Chant christened 1820, m. Elizabeth Reeve b.
1834, in 1861
John's parents were James Chant b. Abt 1782, christened 1795.
2) Children for Stephen and Elizabeth - my g-grandparents are as
follows.
The birth dates do slot in with what you had, but I will double check.
Eva Elizabeth Chant born about Mar 1894, Nether Wallop, Hants.
Ernest John Chant born about Mar 1896, North Stoneham, Hants.
Kate, b. 1898, Stockbridge
Herbert b. about Jun 1900, Over Wallop, Hants. (Assuming he died in
infancy.)
Frederick George, b. 1902, Stockbridge
Lena Ellen, b. 1904, Stockbridge (my paternal grandmother).
Herbert born 1924, Stockbridge.
3) Should be: John Chant b. 1732, christened 22/9/1734
Best wishes
Sally

Hi Sally,
I have been looking at more of those Rootsweb postings and have put one of
yours below. There are obvious answers to a couple of queries but I have
put
them in anyway.
1) I have Stephen born 1868. Who was baptised in 1795?
2) I had Eva, Ernest and Herbert as siblings before adding Lena. Was
Kate
an
early casualty as I can't see her in the 1901 census? Did my listed Herbert
c6/1900 also go and the one you list become his replacement or have you
given
a marriage date?
3) John Chant 22/9/1734 and you have 22/9/1722
If there were any alterations in later postings I haven't got to
them yet.
It is very slow working through them as I get a lot of other stuff sent to
me
on very many family lines. (I made the usual mistake of opening too many
lines
of enquiry.)
Cheers,
John

Dear All
Michael C. suggested that I share my new-found line with the list, so
here
goes (with thanks again to Andy Chant):
My grandmother, Lena Ellen CHANT b.24/03/1904 (Stockbridge, Hants.
UK)
d.1948 (Bournemouth)
Daughter of Stephen (baptised 4/01/1795) and Elizabeth CHANT (nee
SIMMONDS)
m. 23/04/1892 (Over Wallop)
Lena's Siblings:
Kate CHANT b.27/11/1898
Frederick (George) CHANT b.17/09/1902
Herbert CHANT b.24/03/1924
Stephen's parents were John CHANT b.16/07/1820 m.Elizabeth REEVE
6/04/1861
(Wallop)
James CHANT baptised 4/01/1795 (East Tytherley) m. Sarah GRACE 19/07/1813
(OverWallop)
George CHANT baptised Britford Wilts 28/11/1765 m. Margaret EDWARDS
21/10/1793 (St. Martins Salisbury)
John CHANT baptised 22/09/1722 (Hindon, Wilts) m.Ann REED 10/10/1756
My father, Peter Charles CHANT, was born to Lena Ellen out of
wedlock, and
does not know his father's name. I am unlikely to every discover who my
grandfather was, unless somebody somewhere remembers details of the
(probable) scandal!
Sally

Hi --
The message you submitted to this list (included above) wasn't
sent to the list subscribers. RootsWeb accepts only plain text
mail. That means that HTML mail, attachments, ``enriched text'',
and a few other formats can't be sent to RootsWeb mailing lists.
You can post your message if you send it in plain text; turn off
the ``Post in HTML'' or ``Enriched Text'' features of your mail
reader, or don't use any attachments. See
http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/listadmins/plaintext.html
for instructions on turning off HTML in most of the popular mail
programs, or ask your ISP's technical support line for help.
We've had to institute this policy because of the problems that
accompany these fancy mail formats. Some people don't have mail
programs that are capable of processing the special file formats.
Even among those who do, different mail programs handle these
special formats in very different and confusing ways. HTML messages
pose special problems to our digested mailing lists. Most of all,
HTML-ified mail and attachments place a considerable burden on
RootsWeb's overworked machines. All in all, mail in this format
produces a lot of problems for RootsWeb's servers and subscribers,
so we find it's best just to use plain text.
