Hi John
I already use the free program from the Family Search site. It is the
records that I am after, rather than the ability to record my family
details.
However, I shall go and have a look at legacy too, before I make a
decision.
Thank you (as always) for your help.
Best wishes
Sally

Subject: Family Tree Programs
Hi Sally,
I haven't used Family Tree Maker but have seen reports about the new
version
which suggest a compatibility problem with older versions and what a
company
has done once...
I use a very old but simple Program called Family Tree for Windows. I
think
a tarted up version is still on the market but what I've got is quite good
enough for my needs.
If someone hasn't a program the one I suggest they look at is Legacy.
There
is a free download of the Standard version and if you like that you can
upgrade to the DeLuxe edition for which you pay. Have a look at:
_http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/_ (
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/)
There is also the program you can download from the Family Search (Mormon)
site. I don't know how that compares or if it is one where you have to
share
your tree even if you don't want to.
Funny but you are the second person I have mentioned the Legacy program to
this morning.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
John
