Hello, Allan
I'm not aware of any connection between my Jane INGRAM (nee CHANT) and
your Elizabeth HOLLEY (nee CHANT).
I did a quick look to see if any of mine came from Coome Bissett and
found only one, JAMES CHANT b 14 May 1780 Broad Chalke, who died Coombe
Bisssett 18 August 1861. He and Jane were 1st cousins once removed.

Subject: [CHANT] Wiltshire Chants
Hi Pat
I am very curious re your CHANTS from Wiltshire. When your Henry INGRAM
and his wife, Jane (nee CHANT), arrived on the 'Woodbridge' in 1838
into Sydney onboard also was George HOLLEY and his wife, Elizabeth (nee
CHANT).
Elizabeth was the daughter of Martha CHANT of Homington WIL and unknown
father. Martha was the daughter of Jonathan CHANT (born Coome Bissett
WIL)
and Elizabeth MARCHMENT. I have often wondered if it was co-incidence
that Jane and Elizabeth were on the same ship to Australia or if the
family connections had a bearing on it. I have been unable to establish
a link between the two CHANT girls and if in fact they were known
cousins to each other.
Elizabeth, her husband and family lived at Ashfield NSW then
Jarvisfield. Later they lived in the Georges River area. One daughter
married into a family from the Cooks River area (PEAKE) and other
children to families in Camperdown (GIBLETT), Picton (MILGATE) and
Camden (BOYD) in NSW.
Also back in WIL, Frances Emily INGRAM married Herbert CHANT in 1911 who
connects with my wife's family. Also William INGRAM married in 1722 to
Susanna LAWS who has a CHANT connection.
My wife is the G G G Granddaughter of Elizabeth CHANT (b 19 Apr 1797
Homington WIL, m 25 Mar 1817 Salisbury WIL and d 12 Jan 1874 Georges
River NSW).
Any observations from your end re the possible connection of your family
to my wife's CHANT family is welcomed.
Regards......Allan Cresswell Hillarys Western Australia
