Hello Vicky,
Found your man on the 1891 census, at Newtown, Yeovil as you thought:
Thomas Chant, Head aged 57, grocer, born Odcombe, Somerset
Emma Chant, wife aged 53, born West Knighton, Dorset
This looks like the second Emma that you spoke of. No other family
members living with them.
Quite surprisingly on the 1901 census Emma has lost 3 yrs as opposed to
ageing 10 ! John Chant of the List might also be interested in the info
below due to the Hansford surname.
Newtown, Yeovil:
Emma Chant, Head, widowed, aged 50, living on own means, born West
Knighton Dorset
Eliza Hansford, sister, widowed, aged 48, living on own means, born
West Knighton, Dorset
Regards,
Sean
