Greetings to the "CHANT" family
My name is JOHN NICHOLAS CHANT (However my mother is the only person who calls me JOHN. I
am known all over VICTORIA -AUSTRALIA as plain old JOE)
My father and his father both had the given names of GEORGE RICHARD.
My father, who died in 1963 at Ballarat Victoria was married to EILEEN DOROTHY HOBAN.
They were married at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo.
They had four children
ELIZABETH ANN (named after her grandmother ELIZABETH ANN GERRANS)born at KYNETON.
BARRY GEORGE Deceased - born at NYAH WEST
JOHN NICHOLAS born at NYAH WEST BUSH NURSING HOSPITAL
RONALD MICHAEL ALSO AT NYAH WEST.
My father, his brother and his father were all Lands Inspectors.
A few personal details.
I am 58 today, I have been a school teacher for 41 years and spent 30 of those years as a
Principal.
iam now in the second last year of a 3 year contract and will reire at the end of 2004 and
go around Australia in our van.
My wife is JOHANNE LEE MORRISON, born at Kyneton on 22-6-1945
We have three children living.
CHRISTOPHER JOHN is a vice Principal
BRETT ANTHONY is a personnel trainer
and JILLIAN LEE is a jack of all tades.
My grandfather's parents were JOSEPH CHANT AND ELLEN O'KEEFE
JOSEPH CHANT was born 0n 28th of October 1837 at Shiremore Hill Somerset. He was
christened on 26-11-1837in Merriot Somerset.
He was the son of WILLIAM CHANT chris 26-12-1808 and MARY nee FOLLETT 1810.
This WILLIAM was the son of THOMAS 1771-1846 and JOAN LAWRENCE1771-1831
My great grandfather, JOSEPH CHANT, married on 14-1-1874 at DARLINGFORD in VICTORIA,
to ELLEN O'KEEFE born in 1846 in Cork Ireland , daughter of DENIS AND FRANCES?
