Some while back Marion Chant aged 15, was found on the 1901 census and the only other
record was a marriage to Joseph Barnes in 1908 found by Elizabeth Barnes who I can't
contact. I now know she was the illegitimate daughter of Harriet Bates the second wife of
Lewis Chant (born Oborne, Dorset in 1854. Marion took her stepfather's name when he
married Harriet. In 1891 Marion was living with her widowed grandfather as his daughter.
I have found the Barnes family living with widowed Harriet in 1911. Also there was a
Florrie Chant aged 10. Does anyone know anything of Florrie (born March quarter of 1902
in Birmingham) or, indeed of Rosina born to Lewis and Harriet in 1891 or Joseph and
Marion's children Elsie (1902) May 1907, Arthur (1908) Walter (1911) - all
approximate.
any information most welcome.
