Could I please just mention that William Chant (the brother of Onesiphorus)
who was buried in Odcombe in 1859 is NOT the William who married Elizabeth
Male - William son of Robert and Sarah nee Kellaway is still alive in 1851
and living in Odcombe with his wife Elizabeth and daughter.
Regards
Christine (an Odcombe Chant)

Hi - not sure if the other message went, so please email me at
beryl_renton(a)bigpond.com and I will send you a printout which is too large
for here. I would also like information please on Alexander Chant and Sarah
Weeks, and also Ruth Jennings. I have nothing for Walter Rexamund except
born 1914 died 1992, and nothing about Kathleen Heard. I have your name
only. For William Chant I have born 1795 Martock, and died about 1851 with
the follooiwing note: "He was a soldier. Joan Gray has a copy of the
immigration form from the SA Government and will send a photo of it in jpg
form if wanted.
David Chant Sussex found this earlier than 1977.
Reported in 1841 census he was not with Elizabeth and the children but in
the 1851 census Elizabeth is recorded as a widow aged 44 and born in
Barrington, Somerset. It has been stated that William Chant is buried in
Odcombe as is his brother Onesiphorus. When Alexander married his father is
reported to be William Chant according to the "Digger: South Aust.
Marriages, Registrations, 1842/1916
