Hi Beryl
My name is Karin Chant.
I am still trying to figure out where I fit into all this.

Hello Michael and all ....
My new address is beryl_renton(a)bigpond.com and I am also keeping the
other for some time as it only costs $25 a year to do so for mail.
This number is in the archives of quite a few lists so I shall keep
it for that reason.
I am still then on berylrenton(a)ozemail.com.au as well.
I will send the change in bulk at the end of the week. (When I find
out how to do that), as I have a brand new 20 inch IMAC computer.
My ancestry stems from Robert Chant born 1700 West Chinnock, and I
have Reunion 8 for recording my information. As I have Windows XP
also on this new MAC, I will download PAF as it was originally my
preferred site.
I look forward to hearing from anyone.

Hello List
Well it's well and truely 2007 but rather quiet this year so far.
So I am suggesting a roll call.
Membership is steady at 50 members on the list.
Generally I am interested in the origins and descendants of all Chant lines
traceable to Somerset and Dorset origins.
When I started researching in 1979 there were thousands of fragmentary
details on Chant families that seemed
unrelated. Many, many of those fragments now have a home in the main Chant
lines. The challenges for many
at the moment seem to be post 1901 Census details of descendants, 1914-1918
Soldiers and Sailors records.
Also we still have a few hundred unmatched Chant records/people seeking a
home and new members joining trying to find
where they connect. Some still have family members of various branches that
disappear in the records.
Missing, marriage or burial record and not appearing in the expected census
1841-1901. Many will be eagerly
waiting on the 1911 Census to be released in 2012. 2007
Currently allowed are limited searches of known address but confidentiality
of private peoples details still enforced are
available now through the National Archives for 45 pounds) There is the
suggestion the 1911 UK Census might be
accesable online in 2009 but it's not confirmed as certain just yet.
After 1911 new laws on the Census were passed and the 100 year closed period
affirmed so 1921 will not
be available til 2021/22..
I hope you all continue to have success in your Chant research.
Good Luck and dont be shy.
regards
