Michael,
I would guess the majority of people would be cremated - their ashes may be buried in a plot in a local church to their home or where they were born or baptised then again anywhere they liked to go. My own fathers ashes (d.1986) were scattered on the Downs above Eastbourne Sussex and not near any church.

Hallo Jacqueline
This realise that this may not be an immediate connection of yours and I
dont know if you have already ordered the film for the Parish registers of
St Leonards Shoreditch but I have just found a notation in one of my old
notebooks from 1996 when a fellow researcher in an LDS centre was viewing
that particular Register noticed a Chant entry. This is one of the ones
which shows up on the IGI but gives a little more information.
Baptism 1805 26 February Charles son of James and Sarah Chant of Norton
Falgate (born 6 January)
Regards
Christine
Rita,
Although I have Chants in Pennsylvania, I suspect this is not one of mine. There were many New York Chants and some migrated to NJ. I have a social security app for a Margaret Chant living near Phila in the '50 that I can't identify. Where in PA was the photo taken?

Hello,
I have a photo of a child about 12month old looks like a Chant, that was
taken in Pennsylvania USA by a Henry Frey. The photo is numbered 6666 but
there is no name on it. Would date 1890s but that is only a guess by the
clothing of the child.
Is there any chance someone in the USA would have connections with the
Oborne Chants?
