James W. Channel was born on 15th day of April A.D. 1866
(Above births are repeated in the next column, written in a later script, with John
spelled correctly and Channel spelled Channell for each of them. Rosie's date of birth
looks like the 29th in the earlier script but is rendered a clear 27th in the later
script, so I've gone with the 27th as being what's written in the earlier script
as well.)

End of Bible Records.
There are several obituaries and Sunday School certificates from this family in the Bible.
There are no places named in the Bible record itself, but the obituaries include mention
of the town of Sabina. They were apparently members of the local Friends church of that
community. The certificates mention Arminda and Mary Channel as being members of the
Sabina Union Sunday School in 1872. There is a notice about a Miss Gertrude Channel,
principal of the East Side School being honored at the Cherry Hotel and another notice
about her having served a dinner where her guests were teachers from the Eastside School.
There is an obituary notice of a William H. Custis Sr. who was born "near Portsmouth,
O., Dec. 15, 1813 and died at his residence near Melvin June 28, 1897." This might
indicate that the family was from Ohio. There is also a lock of hair wrapped in a clipping
from a newspaper from Wilmington, Ohio, which would again suggest a connection to Ohio.
Anyone interested in digital photos of the records contained in this Bible should contact
me at sharonsabol(a)yahoo.com and I will gladly send them to you. Sale of the Bible itself
to a descendant of this family could be negotiated as well.
