Worked Their Way Around The World
Jackson, O., -- Nov 26, -- A homecoming was held in Rio Grande Tuesday in honor of Ralph
Brown, Fred Hamrick, and Elbert Oder, who have just returned from a tour around the world,
in which they worked their way.
These boys were students at Rio Grande College and decided they wanted to see the world
and with little money started in an open Ford roadster, painted red, and drove to San
Francisco. Upon reaching there they left their car and boarded a boat on the Dollar Line,
for China. They sailed on the President Van Buren and worked their way across. From China
they toured the Eastern continent, and landed back in New York two weeks ago. They then
went by boat to San Francisco by the way of the Panama Canal, and made the trip back to
Ohio in the same red Ford, reaching Jackson Monday afternoon.
The boys arrived a little sooner than expected by the people of Rio Grande so they were
detained upon a slight pretext in Jackson so that the home coming would be in readiness
when they returned.
