List:
Absolutely unprovable at this point, but does need to be considered:
A Thomas CHANNELL is an appraiser of the estate of James FRIZZELL recorded in Isle of
Wight in June of 1759. In February of 1765, an Elizabeth CHANNELL witnesses the will of a
James CHANNELL, relationship not known. All things being what they were back then,
Elizabeth is (unprovable of course) probably the sister-in-law of James, begging the
question, why did Thomas not witness the will of his brother? This James CHANNELL is
surely the same who appraised the estate of one John PENNEY in August of 1758. James
CHANNELL's estate is still being accounted for in June of 1771, probably indicating
that a wife and minors were still being provided for by the estate.
Isle of Wight records show nothing of Thomas after the 1763 marriage to an Elizabeth
Montgomery, and Elizabeth Channell does not show up in published material I have checked
after this mention as a witness to the will of James in 1765.
And we haven't yet discussed a Jeremiah Channell that is recorded in Isle of Wight
records!

M. Mathews
