Was reading the Chaney e-mails and don't mean to butt in, "but" I also
found some of the same spelling. "Chany" is how I find my gggrandfather,
John L. Chaney, in the 1850 Redbank Twp, Armstrong Co., Pa. FTM CD census.
Then in the 1870 FTM CD census, Pine Twp. Armstrong Co, Pa. I find it
spelled "Chang". Hope to find him in the 1860 census and see how the name
is spelled. Also, family story said our Chaney line came from France. The
grandfather came here from France as a young man and was one of 40 scouts
who watched around a fort for Indians. I sure wish, when the cousin who
wrote this school report, would have dated his report and used names of who
and when. Probably didn't know. Should be grateful for what little info I
have. :0)

On the Matrimonial Cert. I have for Georgiana CHANEY, it has her last name
spelled "CHANY". She was married in Savage, MD which at the time in 1853
qwas in PG Co. That's where the minister was from.
In checking on the LDS, I found a Richard CHANY and a Matilda BOYD married
on
9 Feb 1825 in Princes Georges Co., Md.
Georgianna was born 4 May 1829.
There is a tombstone for a Matilda "CHANEY at theSacred Heart/White Marsh
Catholic Church Cem, located just off Annapolis Rd in Bowie, Md The dates
are
Sept 19, 1788 to Apr 9,1860
In the Anne Arundel Co, 1850 Census there is a Georgianna CHENEY (age 20)
living with the ARMIGER family. What, if any, relationship there is here,
I
haven't been able to find it.
If any of this is useful info, please let me know.
