CARROLL: Jeanette I. (Chaney) Shrimplin, formerly of Conesville, Ohio died on Tuesday,
January 20, 2015 at her daughters home in Carroll, OH.
She was born on April 9, 1930 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Hazel (Davis) Chaney and Guy
L. Chaney.
Her grandfather, David Davis, fought in the Civil War.
She was married to Lawrence G. Shrimplin who died March 5, 2005.
Jeanette was a 1948 graduate of Conesville HS.
She received her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Muskingum College in
1952. She started her teaching career in Berlin, OH then moved to Conesville where she
taught 30 years in the school district.
She loved being a teacher and taught 2nd - 5th grades. She taught reading, history and
gym. She also had a great love of classical music and played the violin and sang in the
choir for many years at the Presbyterian Church. Also, people will remember Jeanette
because of her love of antiques.
She was a member of the Ladies Shrine, Eastern Star and Retired Schoolteachers of
Coshocton.
Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Susan Grancey of Carroll, Ohio; son, Jeff Shrimplin
of Conesville; and brother, James D. (Nancy) Chaney of Conesville; granddaughters are
Rachel Grancey of Carroll and Heidi and Haley Shrimplin of Conesville. Other grandchildren
are Trey, Jaeanna, and Brook Shrimplin.
Calling hours will be at Given-Dawson Funeral Home on January 27, 2015 from 1- 2 pm.
Burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery immediately following with Reverend Robert
Millspaugh officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the
Presbyterian Church in Coshocton.
