Hello Dawna,
I just wanted to let you know that I descend from Archibald, through his
daughter Sarah Ann. My website is at
http://members.xoom.com/Bolinger and
you can find this line by searching on the surname CHEYNE. I know the other
spellings were also used, but it was easier for me to keep my database
straight by just using the spelling that Archibald used.

Subject: A Chaney group! Wonderful!
Hi everyone. I am new suscriber. Just found you all actually!
Was on another list and haven't heard a word in ages.
Anyone know who a Levy Chany (Chaney) b. abt 1780 in SC
might belong to? His wife was Elizabeth ?. They made their
home in Lexington Co, SC. This Levy lived next door to Benjamin
Jefcoat.
It is possible that this guy was the father to my Isaac Chaney
b. July 1803 in SC who married Catherine Anne Williamson
and lived in Newton County MS by 1850 census.
I have looked at quite a bit of stuff online, and cannot seem to
place this Levy anywhere. Unless he is one of the "lost" names
of the childern of Jacob and Sarah Midkiff that "went west" according
to Poovy's site of Halifax VA.
Also, 2 other questions maybe someone can answer. Worth throwing
out there.
1840 Lawrence Co, AL Census lists a
Levy Cheney (May not have the exact mispelling of names right, going from
memory here!)
and a older Isaac Chany. Anyone know anything about them? They might be
related to my group. The TN river is right there.
My other question is does anyone know Hezekiah's son Archibalds line? I have
not
seen it. My Isaac named his first known son Archibald.
It is believed that this Levy and Elizabeth had Isaac, James Obanyon
(O'Banion), and an
Elias--which nothing is known, and one other unknown son. Several unknown
daughters.
Thanks alot!,
Dawna Chaney-Varnes
