ATHENS [OH] Kazue Yuri Chaney, age 83, of
Athens, died Monday morning, July 2, 2012, at
OBleness Memorial Hospital. Born June 16, 1929,
in Aihara, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Kenichi and Moto Yoshizawa.
She immigrated to the United States in
1957. As an army wife, she and her husband
were stationed at several army bases until his
retirement. She was employed for 10 years at T.S.
Trim as an interpreter. She was a former member
of VFW Post 3477 Ladies Auxiliary and American
Legion Post 21 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed her home life.
Yuri is survived by a daughter, Linda Engebretsen
of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Jim Chaney of Athens
and Mike Chaney of New Marshfield; six
grandchildren, Carrie (Mike) Martin, Michael
Chaney, Mathew Chaney, Kayla (Jordan) Brown, Vena
Engebretsen and Sean Engebretsen; two sisters in
Japan, Masae and Mitsue; and a special friend, Robin Jones of Athens.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in
death by her husband, Paul Chaney; a daughter,
Carol Chaney; two sisters and a brother.
Graveside services will be conducted Thursday,
10 a.m., at Athens Memory Gardens. No calling
hours will be observed. Arrangements are with
