I am sending this information for those who are interested in Richard Chaney/Cheney, the
immigrant, who lived in Maryland from 1658 until 1686. The site of his Chaneys Hill
houselot has been located and excavated by archaeologists from Ann Arundel Countys Lost
Towns Project. They have published a book named The Clay Tobacco-Pipe in Ann Arundel
County, Maryland. Part Two: "Seventeenth-Century Homelots, " gives a
description of the site location, articles found by the archaeologists, and two beautiful
pictures of reconstructions of the home, the interior and the exterior. Copies of the book
are available from Ann Arundel County, Department of Planning and Zoning, Historic and
Archaeological Programs, Annapolis, Maryland, 21401. (I paid $20.00.)
