What a wonderful bit of fiction someone wrote for my grandmother. I guess it goes to show
one can't believe everything they read in an obit. A lot is true but some is colored
to make her daughter look good. Goldie did not rely on her daughter for care and chores
after her husband died. Her daughter relied on her! Goldie took care of herself and often
her grandchildren for many many years after her husband passed. In fact she had lived with
her son, for a time, helping him raise his kids after his divorce. Her daughter moved in
with her when it was decided if she did she would inherit the house and her brothers would
give up any right to inherit. Goldie was to stay in the house as a life long tenant. But
her daughter got tired of living there and moved Goldie, against her will, away from her
home, family, and friends to Baker City and sold her house. A big part of the time after
Julious death the daughter didn't even live in the same part of the state! Julious
passed in 1963.!
Do the math! What kind of "help" with chores did she need at that age! Credit
for being there for her before her daughter moved in with her should go to Carol Chaney
and her daughter Candy. And also to a lady from her church whose name I can't remember
right now. And Sandra Hunt her sister in law who lived next door. If you add this obit to
your family records please include this to.
