Judith,
I to have relatives buried in a little unknown cemetery in Stet,
MO........which is just outside of Carrolton, MO. If you didn't have exact
directions.............which I was fortunate to find someone on the Internet who know
where it was..........you would never find it in the fenced off part of a cow
pasture!
Now that you mention Elk Horn, I know exactly where you are talking about!
It's just east of Excelsior Springs, MO and just before Wood Heights, MO. My
sons mother in law lived in Wood Heights for quite a few years, as did her
current husband. I'll have Jeremy ask if they have ever ran across a cemetery
named Seulles. My guess is it is probably on land originally owned by
someone with the same last name. Seems like around here, little cemeteries are
generally located in pasture land that had been deeded by families for use of
local towns people who either couldn't afford a larger cemetery or only had
family located in the same town. There could be a different explanation for
the ways and means, but this is what I have managed to come up with.
PS........there is a larger cemetery on Hwy 10, between Excelsior Springs
and Elk Horn called Pisgah, I believe.........you might try there. I'll see if
I can find it on the Internet, or at least a contact number for you.
