I know that families tend to be clanish. That's the reason for my writing.
I have Georgianna (Chaney) Lusby lage 51, living at 53 house visited in
Savage in 1880 census (Howard CO., ED 106) with husband Samuel and children Mary
Marsden, Georgeanna, CAtherine L., Samuel, James A., Susie and a niece.
Also in the 1880 census in the 54 house visited lives George T. CHANEY, age
58. with wife Rachel and children Lina, Dennis P, Katie, Burnes, Mamie (?)
and James.
Now, we have Jesse Chaney and wife Martha, in Prince George Co.: in 1860 in
|Dist 7. with Mary E, Jesse, Samuel, Martha, Elizabeth, & Joseph. And in
1870 in Vansville, with Jesse, Martha, Elizabeth, Joseph, Susan and Laura Clark
(Martha's maiden name is Clark).
Jesse and Martha are buried in Savage Cem. just up t he street from where
George and Georgianna lived. Hmmmm.
I grew up and went to school in Savage in the 1950's so I do know the area.
I put out a question recently on
genforum.com "Chaney" and asked if anyone
knew who might be the parents of Georgianna Chaney? I received a very nice
and informative letter from Susanna F. (Thank you very much) and she seems
to think that Georgianna might be the child of Levi Chaney (b. 1794) and #
spouse (married 6 May 1828) to Providence Shipley Mitchell, b. 20 Apr 1793.
OR possibly the daughter of Dennis and Annie CHANEY, married 17 Aug 1818
AnneArundel Co., MD.
Knowing how parents named their children, I tend to lean toward Dennis and
Annie.
George T. has a son named "Dennis" (after his grandfather???) and how
uncommon would it have been to name a son George and a daughter GeorgeAnna (maybe
after a grandparent - or a grandfather and mother ((Annie))?
My resources are limited to the internet, being in Florida, I don't have
access to the Archives in Annapolis, other than what's on line.
If anyone else can shed some light on GeorgeAnna/Georgianna (CHANEY) Lusby
b. 29 May 1829 and died 27 Feb 1892, I would really appreciate your help.
Sincerely,
Jacqui
