Yes, some think William was son of James and on back to Richard. I don't have
it before me right now, but will check. Thanks for reply. Wynelle Chaney

Is the missing link to which you refer, the link from William in VA/TN to
Richard in MD?

Thanks.
I had tried to find info on the family who owned the funeral home in McAlester,
OK for a long time and could not get the info. I thought they might be
connected with my line. Some of my grandfather's siblings lived in southern OK
along with another Chaney line. The farthest back I have on my Chaney line is
William Chaney b ca 1760 VA. He lived in eastern TN where most of his large
family were born. They scattered all over the U.S. Mine went to Alabama,
Arkansas, OK, TX.
We have done the DNA and know that we go to Richard in MD, but we do not know
the missing link.
Thanks for the info, but I do not have any Myers that I know of.

George McClelland Chaney's parents were:
John L. Chaney b. 1827 Bedford Co., Pa. d. Dec 8, 1898 Tidal, Armstrong Co.,
Pa.
Sophrona A. Myers b. Oct. 23, 1835 Venango or Clarion Co., Pa. d. Dec. 30,
1907 Tidal, Armstrong Co., Pa.
His ggrandparents were:
Richard Chaney. b. abt. 1796 Pa. d. after 1830 before 1840 Pa. and Rebecca
b. abt. 1796 d. after the 1840 census
John Myers b. April 10, 1801 Maryland d. Jan. 1847 Venango or Clarion Co.,
Pa.
Mary Hohn b. 1806 New York d. April 10, 1891 Oakland, Mahoning Twp.,
Armstrong Co., Pa.
I can take the Myers line back farther, if you are interested in that line.
Thank you for asking.
Lona
