Dorothea E. Snack, 96
MOUNT VERNON - Dorothea E. Snack, 96, of Mount Vernon, died Sunday, Dec.
10, 2006, at her residence.
She was born June 23, 1910, near Tappan, in Harrison County, to the late
Wesley Earl Chaney and Florence A. Fisher Chaney. A graduate of Bowerston
High School, Dorothea worked in the Canteen at the Dennison Railroad
Station in Dennison during World War II. In 1953 she and her husband,
Charles, moved to Mount Vernon where they owned and operated Glas-Phalt
Corporation and then Rubbertite Corporation. Dorothea served as executive
secretary for the League of Friendship.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Joyce Chaney of New Philadelphia,
Sandra (Leo) Zorzi of Dover, Jack (Pam) Chaney of Bowerston, Madge Chaney,
Kenneth Chaney Jr. and Jane Peterson of California, Jerry Allen Goldlust
and Keith Russell Goldlust of New York City; and many great-nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, George Dawson
and Charles W. Snack; her brother, Kenneth Chaney; and her sister, Wanda
Chaney.
Calling hours will begin at 1 p.m. with funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday,
Dec. 15, 2006, at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial
will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
