While searching for my father Joe Buster Chandler b. 09/09/1899 Spokane,
Washington I found this information that I thought would lead me to the "Red
Headed" Aunt my father said raised him in Spokane.
My father's Aunt had a English back ground and the below Aunt Mary
Hotchkiss has a Scottish back ground. I have searched through these families but
have not been able to link my father Joe into any of the Hotchkiss clan. The
Chandler, Padden & Hotchkiss resided in Spokane, Washington.
Any help in finding my father Joe B. Chandler would be most appreciated.
Elmer Augusta Chandler had a son named Elbridge G. Chandler b. 1900
Montana.
In 1918 Elbridge was 18 and required to sign up for the WW1 draft. On his
card he listed a Aunt Mary Helen Hotchkiss as a source.
In trying to find the connection of the Hotchkiss & Chandler family;
This Aunt Mary was b. 1891 at Baffalo Gap, South Dakota.
Arthur Elmer Chandler, another son of Elmer's and a brother of Elbridge,
was b. 1888 ALSO at Buffalo Gap in South Dakota.
Elmer A. Chandler, the father of Elbridge & Arthur, was married to Eldora
Belle Padden.
Her father William Padden b. 1829 was the Father-In-Law of Thomas
Hotchkiss, Aunt Mary's father.
A record shows Mary Helen's marriage dated Sept. 12, 1912 Spokane,
Washington to Vernon Robert Alexander. They were both age 22 and first marriage
for both.
Mary's Father was named Thomas Hotchkiss b. 1858 Field, Minnesota and her
Mother was Marion Pattis b. 1866 Decorah, Iowa.
The items that tie Aunt Mary Hotchkiss to the Chandler family are;
1. The draft card record of Elbridge G. Chandler.
2. The fact that Elbridge's brother Arthur Elmer was also born in Buffalo
Gap and their ages coincide with being related.
3. Thomas Hotchkiss father-in-law, William Padden, father of Eldora
Padden, wife of Elmer A. Chandler.
