Over the past 30 years, I have spent many hours searching early Virginia records, and
trying to piece my Chandler/Carter families together. Here are some of my notes Does
anyone have supplemental information? Oliv. Moore, my gggf appeared in Fluvanna Co., in
1808, and I have NEVER been able to locate his parentage! Would appreciate ANY clues, as
well as the names of Elizabeth's other children.
1770 - Sarah Smith Chandler christened at St. James Parrish - Goochland Co., VA, dau of
Richard Chandler
1772 - Richard Carter Chandler christened same place son of "

1782 - Elizabeth Chandler was head of family (8 white and 1 black) so she must have had 7
children?
1798 - Richard Chandler md. Sally Eades in Fluvanna Co.
1808 - marriage of Oliv(er) Moore & Polley Chandler witnessed by John Wood, Elizabeth
Chandler, mother and Carter Chandler who testified that the bride and groom were age 21.
(Assume he was Polley Mary's brother)
1808 - Fluvanna court records...Lavine Chandler, orphan of Richard Chandler chose John
Wood for her guardian.

1810 VA census Carter B. Chandler, Frederick Co., p. 338 (7 counties north of Fluvanna)
1812 - Oliv Moore served in the War of 1812, for which he received a land grant in WV and
moved there (Kanawha Co.) with his
family
1841 Carter Chandler deeded property to Shepherds Co. et all Fluvanna Co., VA Gen Index
to deeds
1842 a Samuel Chandler md. Martha King, Fluvanna Co.
1847 & 1848 Carter Chandler granted property to Mayo Carrington, Abraham Shepher,
Samuel Chandler, etc.
