Thank you 'jrfranklin' for your reply on my quiry regarding the origin of the
supposed maiden name of Swithin Chandler's wife, Ann. This only strengthens
my theory that her real name was Ann Garrett, daughter of Thomas Garrett,
Sen.
I have a page from Jacob Chandler's notebook in which he writes "Thos Garrett
Sen Departed this Life Aprill ye 26th 1734 In the 82 year of his age" -- I
believe that Jacob Chandler was this Thos Garrett's grandson, and that Thomas
was living with his family when he died.
It is said that Thomas Garrett died in the home of his grandson -- it had
always been assumed that that grandson was John Garrett, but it appears from
this notation in Jacob's book that it was him. (Jacob the son of Swithin and
Ann)
I will send a scan of this page if anyone is interested in seeing it. I also
have the administration papers in which Swithin and his wife Ann are named to
handle the Estate of Thomas Garrett Jun. (Ann's brother).
