Dave,
The sources I have for Asa B. Chandler are as follows:
1880 census, Portland, Multnomah Co., OR Roll T9_1083, P. 287D, Asa B. age 8, b. OR
1900 census, Hoquiam Pct., Chehalis, WA, Roll T623_1741. P. 207B, Asa D. Chandler, b.
January 1872. age 28, b. OR
1897 Cepartment of Interior Pension Application Form-Certificate #437358, Asa B. Chandler,
b. January 7, 1872
Note they listed him as Asa D. on the 1900 census which was probably either a mistake on
his part or the census taker. Anyway, if this should prove to be your Asa, I have much
more information on the family but have no information on a Joe Chandler.

Thank you for that information. I have an Asa D. Chandler in my data base,
so I am not sure if your Asa B. & my Asa D. are the same person, although
they have the same birth month & year.
If you are sure Asa's middle name was B. , it could be a link to my
father's middle name of Buster.

Brother of ETHEL M.
Thanks so much,

Hi ! Jeannette,
The Chandler family I am looking for had to be in Washington State
before 1899 through 1907. Maybe even longer. My dad said he rode on a
buckboard to Yakima with his dad. If he remembered this he may have been
at
least 8
years or older.
Thanks for responding,
Dave

Maybe he is related to our CHANDLER line that has no other connection to
any Chandler Families on your list. One of Robert Chandler's children
moved
to Illinois which is not that far from Iowa. There were also some family
members from one of Robert's other children that landed in Washington
state.

Hi Dave
I hesitate to make this suggestion, because I normally advocate that
Y-DNA
testing is the best way to research the male line. However, as your
Y-DNA
test had no matches, for which I am deeply sorry, I am wondering if an
autosomal test, introduced more recently, might be a way forward for you.
FTDNA calls this Family Finder and it costs $99. It looks for matching
DNA
from other FTDNA participants of EITHER sex, and ANY surname. It is only
any good at looking as far back as about 5th cousins, but that could be
enough to give you a breakthrough, if you match with someone who has a
slice
of your automosomal DNA in theirs and maybe has a Chandler in one of
their
collateral lines, to give us a clue where to search. I would be glad to
try
to help you research the test results, as this kind of test is fairly new
to
me and I would like to learn some. If you want to do this, you can order
Family Finder by signing on to your account at FTDNA and choosing "order
an
upgrade" (top right-hand corner), then "order a standard test" and
selecting
Family Finder. Of course, I can't guarantee success....
Best wishes

Subject: [CHANDLER] Looking for my Dad's Parents
Hi !
I am back again, still searching for any information that would lead me to
finding my CHANDLER heritage in the Spokane area of Washington State.
My father was born 09/09/1899 in Spokane. He never had any siblings, did
not know his mother's name and was not really sure of his father's name.
His
mother died about 1902 and he was raised by an Aunt from 1907 until the
early 1920's. The Uncle was enlisted in WW 1 and served in Afghanistan.
Joe
was also of draft age in 1918 but he doesn't show on the draft list. He
was
sure of his birth date and his name of JOE BUSTER CHANDLER (not Joseph).
He
thought his father's name was either JOHN J. or A. J. CHANDLER.
from Iowa. He had a Uncle and Aunt in Washington that he lived with after
1907, but it is not known whether the Aunt or Uncle had the name
CHANDLER.
I'm looking for any help, information or idea's on
how to proceed.
