Subject: Re: [CHANDLER] Mary Chandler d 1769 in Chester County, PA
Hello Gary
The name MANKIN rang a bell with me so I looked up "A Record of the
Descendants of George & Jane Chandler who emigrated to Pennsylvania from
Wiltshire, England in 1687".
On page 281 it says that Thomas, the younger brother of Swithin Chandler,
married Mary Mankin. Thomas and Swithin seem to have been very close, and
may have lived in different parts of the same house. Swithin was styled "of
Birmingham Township, Chester County" so Thomas would have been the same,
which ties up with Mary's Will.
Thomas, born 1681, the 5th son of George & Jane, was a member of the
Provincial Legislature of Pennsylvania for 20 years. He died in 1761
leaving no children.
I think the Isaac Chandler referred to in the Will is the son of Thomas'
brother George who was the 2nd son of George & Jane. This Isaac married
Elizabeth James.
Hope this helps. This is part of my genetic family, per DNA testing. You
can read about this genetic family if you go to the home page of the
Chandler Family Association web site, click on the "genetically-distinct
Chandler families" link in the President's welcome, then scroll down to and
click on 7B.
Best wishes
