I was born in Louisville in 1956. My step grandpa's name was James Augustus Snawder.
He was about 25 years old when he married my grandmother after she was widowed. Her name
was Madeline Brooks England and she had a 5 year old daughter at the time named Marjorie.
(my Mom) Later they had a boy named James Fredrick Snawder who still lives in Louisville.
I remember when I was little Grandpa talking about his brothers and sisters but I never
met them. They have long passed away but he worked at the L& N Railroad and grandma
worked at the G&E Plant. I remember he looked full blooded Indian and did mention
Cheokee in his past on his moms side I believe. He was a very kind and gentle man who I
remember would sing in church and had the most beautiful deep voice. We used to just sing
to the heavens when I was little. Yes there are Snawders in Bullitt County they are his
grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was probably born around 1920 as far as I can
recall. I just recently !
got interested in my past so if anyone knows anything about my stepgrandpa's family I
would love to know, he was the only Grandpa I ever knew and I loved him dearly.
