Hello again, Amanda. I am glad you are pleased with the contents of my
first reply. I have now spent several hours looking for Carl in the 1920
Census, and finally found him living with his parents on a farm at Prairie
Township, Enumeration District 145, Washington County, Arkansas. His
parents owned the farm, subject to a mortgage. His father's name looks like
Wilburn Chandler, aged 43 in 1920, his mother was Amanda aged 42, Carl was
18, Homer 17, Melvin 14, Ross 8, Thelma 6, Delia 4 years 4 months, and son
Wiley 2 years 7 months. All were born in Arkansas, as were Wilburn and
Amanda's parents. Carl was a Public Road Laborer, while Homer worked at home
on the farm. The 1910 Census confirms the name as Wilburn. I have tried to
find Wilburn and his parents in Arkansas in the 1880 US Census, but without
success so far.
That's all I can do for now, so I send you best wishes
Dick Chandler in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Canada,
researching the CHANDLER and HAD(D)ATH surnames world-wide.
