Hi ! Don,
My father, Joe Buster Chandler said he was an only child, which may have
been true as he said his mother died when he was about two or three years of
age (1903/1904).
You don't know how much I have investigated this family and sometimes I
am still confused. I do know that this Floyd died in 1922 and supposedly was
buried in Spokane, Washington. The weird fact is that a copy of Joe's (my
father) marriage application states his father's name as A. J. Chandler born
Iowa. The below A. J. Chandler, ( father of the Floyd you mention ) was born in
OH., but he had come from Iowa with his family to Spokane, Washington.
Another weird fact is that when A. J. did come to Washington, he brought another
Floyd Chandler with him, making two Floyd's in the same family in 1910. This
other Floyd was a Grandson of Hiram Taylor, whose daughter married Midas
Chandler. This Chandler family eventually ended up living in Dallas, Oregon. I
checked this Floyd M. out and found out for sure he was not my father. Also the
Floyd J. you mention could not have been my father if he actually died and was
buried in 1922 in Spokane. Incidentally, the year this Floyd died was about
the same year as when my father migrated to San Diego, California.
Another strange twist to this whole scenario was that A. J.'s wife was named
Ida (Post) Chandler and she was a matron of the Hutton House (Farm) for
abandon or/or orphan children in Spokane. Also you mention that Floyd J. was a WW
! Vet. One of the things my father thought he remembered was that he thought
he had a Uncle that served in the WW ! War in Europe. Sad to say, but I
have never been able to make a link to this family.

Dave,
Did your dad have any brothers? I also found a draft reg card for WW1. For a
Floyd Judson Chandler of Hillyard, Spokane Co. Wa
lists next of kin as a Mrs. Ida M Chandler of RFD #10 Hillyard. It list
Floyd as a farmer born Nov 24, 1897 his height listed as Med. build as Med. with
dark eyes and dark hair. The card is dated Sept 12, 1918.
Just thought I would add this as a long shot.
