I study all Chandlers in Rockingham County, Va. and Augusta County, Va. and
some surrounding areas. Every once in a while I run across some Chandlers
who don't belong to my line. Here's a Chandler who doesn't belong to me, but
maybe he belongs to someone else.......

Thursday, November 1, 1866: Died. Suddenly on Friday last, the 26th ult.,
of neglected diarrhea and cholera morbus, MR. A.D. CHANDLER in the 49th year
of his age. MR. CHANDLER was a well known citizen of Staunton-of kind heart
and genial nature, and universally respected.
Here is Augustine D. Chandler in the 1850-1860 Augusta Co., Va. census
records. The 1860 record shows that he was born in New Kent and his wife Ann was
born in Henrico, but all of his children were born in Augusta. His widow is
found as head of household in 1870.
