Hi Estelle-
Samuel William Chandler [b. 26 Dec 1817] is the son of Charles Chandler and
Margaret Weaver of Rockingham County, Va. The dates you have are basically
correct. I have 9 children born to this couple. The CHANDLER-BIBY-SIMMONS
Family Bible lists the following children for Charles and his wife Margaret:
Elizabeth, Samuel W., John S. Robert H., Catherine K., Peachey H., George W.,
Jacob W., and Margaret. Information on these children was gathered from the
family bible [I do not have a copy], census records, death records and
marriage records.

I am curious how you connect the Samuel Chandler who married Annie Efferson
to parents, Samuel Chandler [b. 1771] and Elizabeth Lisbon [b. 1772] ?
At one time I listed them together, but I have since reevaluated this match
up for several reasons.
According to the Chandler book [published 1937], Samuel Chandler [son of
Samuel Chandler and Elizabeth Lisbon] died in Taylor Springs, Rockingham
County, Va. and he was unmarried. This information was passed on to me by
someone who has seen this book. I do not have a copy.
According to the census records, the Samuel Chandler who ended up in
Louisiana seems to have a birth date closer to 1796 or so, not 1803.
And, in 1850 and 1860 Livingston Parish, Louisiana census records, Samuel
Chandler of Livingston Parish, Louisiana consistently gives his birth
location as South Carolina, not Virginia.
There is also a Samuel Chandler of approximately the correct age, born in
Va., who is found in Illinois in 1850.
1850 City of Belleville, St. Clair County, Illinois, 4 December 1850
dwelling 2612
Samuel Chandler 44 Merchant $2000 Va
Adaline 46 Illinois
Mary Manay 35 St. Clair Co.
Adaline Dement 30 St. Clair Co.
Ellen Robb 13 St. Clair Co.
Josephine Belsha 10 St. Clair Co.
Francis Teansa [male] 20 [mulatto] Laborer St. Clair Co.
I am curious, do you have other information that links the Samuel Chandler
of Livingston Parish, Louisiana to parents Samuel Chandler and Elizabeth
Lisbon of Rockingham County, Va.?

Hello List,
Back in Aug. 1998 I corresponded with a lady in reference to this
Chandler family. I was wondering if she is still on the list
(_Lsc12147(a)aol.com_
(mailto:Lsc12147@aol.com) ) I have a question in reference to Samuel W.
Chandler. she has his birth date as 12-26-1817 and his two siblings if I am
reading this correctly as Jacob born abt.1833 and Margaret born abt 1835.
Some
sixteen years between siblings just seemed odd to me. If the lady is on
this
list would you please contact me at _Dashes1(a)aol.com_
(mailto:Dashes1@aol.com) .
If there is anyone out there that can shed some light on this set of
Chandlers please jump in I am like the robot in 5 Alive I need input.
My Chandler line is
Samuel Chandler - Elizabeth Lisbon
Samuel Chandler II - Anna Efferson
Martha Melinda Chandler - Elbert Stewart
Emeline Stewart - Joel W. Farris (my paternal Grandparents)
Thank you
Estelle Farris
